Sweatshirts and Skirts

Sweats are comfortable, functional and warm but absolutely should not be worn outside of the house unless you are gardening, going for a run or getting into your car to go to the gym. I don't own a single pair of sweatpants and most of my sweatshirts have been used as painting garb because I don't ever want to feel compelled to wear them out. I mean, Karl said it best:

Although I've been hating a lot on this comfortable cotton, I do have two sweatshirts that I cherish and wear out often. My fashion sweats--it just sounds better--consist of a vintage hoodie from Lost and Found Vintage in Royal Oak that is super fitted and mostly worn to bonfires and the other is a cropped crew-neck sweatshirt from Forever 21. And I love crop tops.

My most favorite thing, when it comes to dressing, is contrast; whether it's two opposite colors or two opposite styles, I love mixing two completely different things in one outfit. With that being said, I love functional sweatshirts and pretty skirts. This combination keeps a summer skirt fresh and keeps a body--my body--warm.

How do you wear your fashion sweats?

Another guest blog

Recently, I was fascinated by Stefano Pilati's fashion presentation of his seasonless collection available as soon as it hit his pop-up shop. So fascinated that I blogged about it for StyleLine magazine. Check it.

Denim Lovers, Unite!

Last week, I was invited to a denim presentation at Neiman Marcus to learn about, ogle at and even try on the vast collection of denim. I was lucky enough to take a pair home and I blogged about my experience and Mulberry Rag and Bone Legging Jeans on the StyleLine blog. So, make sure to check out my post and stop into your local Neiman Marcus for jeans and some serious savings.

It's Been A While

While I may not have been writing on this blog, I have been doing a lot of writing for StyleLine Magazine and Detroit Garment Group Guild - 2 of my internships and a freelance writing job. I am going start posting at least once a week and hopefully my commitment will grow from there.  Here are a few images of what I have been doing the past year or so.

Bought a fur vest... something I have been itching to do for quite some time.
Next stop: FUR COAT, BABY

Took a nature walk with my best friend on an unusually warm winter day.

Made sushi for Valentine's Day with my boo.
It was as delicious as it looks.

Assisted photo shoots for StyleLine Magazine...

...and even styled my own.

Finally, I was always curling up with my favorite Detroit mug
while browsing fashion sites and online.

Stay tuned for more fashion and fun blogging - I promise I won't keep you waiting, again.

#NYFW

It's that wonderful time of the year again!  New York Fashion Week is alive and kickin'.  Unfortunately, I can't sit front row with Anna Wintour and the like but fortunately, Style.com immerses me in all things fashion from the comforts of my own home.  Here are a few of my favorites this year if you're interested.  And maybe you're not, but I'm going to tell you anyway.

Lela Rose
The metallics look fantastic and the chains are so unexpected and mix so well with the softness of the collection.

Christian Siriano
So dreamy.  I love all of the white and the beautiful silhouettes of this collection.

Altuzarra
Dying.  Love the utilitarian, railroad look Altuzarra is bringing to spring!

DKNY
She can do no wrong in my eyes.  Well, except for the jorts I saw on Cara Delvingne in the beginning of the show.  JORTS? Come on.

What do you think?

I'm On Etsy!

Good afternoon!  I have been working on some foot jewelry and I finally have enough done to put up on Etsy.  It's a shoe harness made out of chains I have found at craft stores, in old jewelry, and at Michaels.  I have about 6 up on Etsy but I'm working on more.  Here is a preview and a link to the website.  Check it!

Well, what do you think?

Can we talk about leather?

While it's a hot 93 degrees in metro Detroit all I can think about, of course, is fall fashion and I'm obsessed with all-things leather this season.  I haven't done my research yet so I don't know if it's a trend for the the fall but what I do know is that I already bought a pair of leather leggings and I plan on rocking them as soon as the weather cools down (since I already have 20 different ways to wear it floating around my mind).  Here are some leather pieces I am dying to put in my closet collection.  My next post will probably be leather related... Once I start with something so fabulous, I can't stop. (Like my turtleneck obsession last fall.)

This fun mix is a good way to make your leather look a little more girly.
I love the contrast of fabrics in this dress.

LOVE leather leggings, LOVE the funky mix of fabrics.

Leather and peplum?  Sign me up, please!

I love a shift dress, just as much as the next girl but a shift dress in leather?  I don't need another option.
