Wish List: Swimsuit Edition

My favorite season is upon us and I have already busted out my swimsuit for sun bathing!  My pool was opened up over Memorial Day weekend and today was the first day it could actually be used but unfortunately, on the hottest day of spring so far this season, I was stuck inside at work then out running errands for my trip--4 days, eek!--after work.  Even though I couldn't be in the pool physically, I was definitely in the pool mentally. Swimsuits and cover-ups were on my mind all day long and I have been waiting all winter to finally buy a new one.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Purchase of the Week

For the past few weeks I have been looking for a great transition dress. I have been scouring boutiques and malls around metro Detroit for a dress casual enough to wear during the day, while frolicking around townor Paris in a week!–and dress it up with a pair of sexy pumps and a few fun accessories for a fabulous night out.  I found this sassy little number at H&M and I'm obsessed.

Day Trippin'

Night Out

The great thing about this dress in particular is the pattern; it's not too crazy but busy enough that all you need to do is throw on any and all of the black and gold accessories that you have and go.  Easy peasy.

Spring Travels

Traveling can be stressful, especially when it comes to packing and figuring out what to wear while traveling.  I am going to Paris for a month in 9 days for study abroad and I have been obsessively making lists and going through my clothes to narrow down some pieces.  Other than the packing itself, I can’t stop thinking about what to wear on the planeAlthough everytime I have been to an airport I have seen people dressed in their sweats, I know people can look nice and be comfortable.  The key is layering.  You also want to make sure that you are wearing shoes that are easy to slip on and off. Here are examples of outfits to wear while flying during the spring and summer months.

A sweater and a t shirt are good to wear while traveling for hot and cold purposes and jeggings are perfect to wear because they have the look of jeans but the comfort of leggings.  Flats are comfortable and easy to get on and off through security.

Racy Lacey

Lace is one trend this spring that can be tricky to wear.  Luckily, stores and designers have offered a variety of lace-styled garments and accessories for people that just want to get their feet wet in this trend to people that want to dive right in.  Lace is perfect for many different occasions like a day around town, a night out at the bars, and a best friend's wedding.

Below are my favorite runway looks from spring 2011.

Here are some of my favorite lace pieces that I'm simply obsessed with
and have been saving up my paychecks for.

Transition: Spring to Summer

Maxi skirts and dresses are timeless and great transitional pieces.  I love wearing them in the beginning of spring heading into the summer for a couple of reasons.  First, they are good for those days that aren’t too warm but you’re just sick of wearing pants; second, they cover up pale legs that aren’t to their full tan potential; and third, maxi skirts and dresses are super easy.  I love to wear a maxi dress with a jean jacket during the day and a blazer for a night out. For a maxi skirt I usually pair it with a fitted tee and a ton of jewelry.  Below are a few maxi skirts and dresses that I’m dying to get my hands on!

White Out

One of my favorite things to see on a woman or man during the spring and summer is white. What I love even more is a whole outfit of white.  Not only is it crisp and classic but it is very daring—I always end up spilling something on my whites.  Another great thing about white on white is pairing it with your favorite jewelry and getting really creative with it.  A few combinations I like are gold and black; coral, gold, and white; and turquoise and black.  Below are a few combinations of white on white that I simply adore.
